Behemoth
The Apostasy

If you examine the word Behemoth at wikipedia you discover it is most likely a plural form of (b?h?m?h ("animal")). It may even be an example of pluralis excellentiae, a Hebrew method of expressing greatness by pluralizing a noun; it thus indicates that Behemoth is the largest and most powerful animal. BEHEMOTH, the influential Polish extreme metal titans are as pluralis excellentiae as it gets, and they will soon invade the U.S. with only one mission in mind according to their website, to annihilate the masses at Ozzfest all summer long.

“The Apostasy” the bands new release will certainly be an appropriate tool towards achieving their goal. It picks up right where the 2005 smash “Demigod” left off. The listener is first carried through Rome 64 C.E. a time where many were suspicious against the religous sects in a city filled with arson, anger, and dispair. You hear faint chants in the background.

BEHEMOTH then captures the listeners attention with an explosion a simple strumming of a few chords accompanied by military drum beats. It is an appealing and catchy method. The technically sound, now fully evovled death trio, are no longer hindered by their blackened roots, but instead clearly benificiaries and new influencers of a complicated genre.

Nergal and his growls are dead-on with less layering then past albums the listener will be enticed with songs like "Slaying The Prophets Ov Isa". The leads are inviting, and the riffs are simple yet precise, unique and interesting."Prometherion" has a leisured pace an interesting stop and leads right into an accustic intro for "At the Left hand ov God" and concludes with the same militarye drums and chants we begin the album hearing.

Thisrebellious album considers every track as cumulative rather than their own discrete entities, and an evil poin t is made in short consise tracks. The songs average 3:30 a rare treat in the genre. This album really is a lyrical treat and will carry the listener into a darkness where there is no return. BEHEMOTH make you believe there is nothing to comfort you in the afterlife and they do it through hard work and some of the most technically sound drumming the trained ear has ever heard.

BEHEMOTH is going to be massive after this summer will you be smart enough to go along for the ride? Buy this.
