God Forbid

Earthsblood

Century Media

Back from a long hiatus (their last album being 2005's “IV: Constitution of Treason “) GOD FORBID have re-entered the ring... and their coming in swinging.  “Earthsblood”, the band's 5th studio album is most certainly a knockout punch, combining traditional metal, thrash and metalcore in a truly modern metal alloy of aggression.

Ititially you might think you're in store for yet another metalcore album, but just when you think you've got GOD FORBID pegged, they come at you from a different direction entirely.  Next thing you know, you're humming to the melody, moving to the groove, and headbanging to the fury... all within the same song.  This quintet has most definitely got all the right ingredients in all the right places, from Byron Davis' aggressive punch in the face vocal delivery, the dual guitar assault of Doc and Dallas Coyle, and the ballistic pummeling of bassist Hohn Outcalt and drummer Corey Pierce.  “Earthsblood” is rife with melody and mayhem, fury and finesse, the fires of angst and the cold calculation of spite.

Fans of LAMB OF GOD, IN FLAMES, and FEAR FACTORY take note.

Bottom Line: With “Earthsblood” GOD FORBID prove that they belong amongst the ruling class of American metal.

Key Tracks: “Empire of the Gun”, “War of Attrition”, “Bat the Angels”
