In the mid 1990’s Michael and Christopher Amott
formed Arch Enemy, one of the most legendary bands
in metal. Once 2000 came around, one of the genre’s
most talented vocalists, Angela Gossow, joined the
band. The band is well known for critically acclaimed
releases such as “Wages of Sin,” “Anthems
of Rebellion,” and “Doomsday Machine.”
Now another critical acclaim is about to be made with
“Rise of the Tyrant”.
“Rise of the Tyrant” opens with “Blood
On Your Hands” and does nothing but astonish.
Each song has Amott’s signature solos along
with awesome and brutal rhythms giving you an incredible
metal mix like in the songs “The Last Enemy”
and “I Will Live Again.” Gossow’s
voice is still just as terrifying and ass kicking
like ever before only with a whole new line up of
relentless salvos. The way every song was written
and performed makes this album a metallic must have,
and an amazing follow-up to Doomsday Machine.
In the long run, Rise of the Tyrant is simply one
of those albums you can’t pass up. The album
is a great addition to any metal library and I highly
recommend it to any fan of the genre. Truly with a
release like this, the band has proven that they aren’t
ready to let up. Critics (other than myself) worldwide
who feast their ears upon this masterpiece will be
just as amazed. I give this album until early to middle
December (maybe earlier) to be one of the #1 metal
albums of 2007.
