Over the years, the east coast has produced many
well-known bands that have impacted the hardcore scene
like Sick Of It All, Hatebreed, and Madball. In early
2006, New England produced a band that really fit
in to the east coast hardcore scene. Combining members
from bands like Follow Through, Fear Tomorrow, and
Dead Wrong and one debut, Pavor Nocturnis, under their
belt, Living Hell returns with The Lost and the Damned.
The Lost and the Damned begins with “The Resurrection”
which opens in a weird manner involving background
noises that you’d see or hear on a horror flick.
From there on, the album gets brutal with fast drums
and riffs and sick guitar solos. And yeah I’m
sure you know what I might say next and if you’re
thinking break downs, then hell yeah, the album’s
got a lot of ‘em and the cool part is the timing
for them. Each song like “Mabrothrax”
and “Vermin” have a climax in them before
they release a break down and when you hear them,
you think of a turning point in movie like a fight
scene or when the hero comes and dishes out an ass
kicking to the villain. Each song was really awesome
about this and kept it unique especially when some
of the guitar solos opened the breakdowns.
Overall, Living Hell’s The Lost and the Damned
is a great addition to any hardcore fan’s album
collection. Any fan of Hatebreed, Terror, Ringworm,
Madball, and other bands of the genre would really
get into Living Hell especially if you’re a
fan of the break downs associated with many other
hardcore bands. Also, old school thrash lovers have
something to get into as well. So if you want some
more aggressive hardcore to add onto your play list,
Living Hell’s got you covered for a little over
half an hour with The Lost and the Damned.
