I always find myself slightly apprehensive when faced
with a new Reliant K album. Some of their albums shine
with all the glory of pop punk bliss, "Five Score
and Seven Years Ago" was not my cup of tea. Taking
this stance, I was obviously a bit hesitant when I
found a copy of "Let It Snow, Baby...Let It Reindeer"
in my mailbox. I am glad to say that with this release
Reliant K is back in fine form, and again providing
golden punk rock for the masses.
This seventeen track collection of Christmas music
features classic songs reworked and a handful of originals
filled with Reliant K's heart and sarcasm. The band
rocks the house on "I'm Gettin Nuttin' For Christmas"
and "Santa Claus Is Thumbing to Town" but
their heart shows on "Silent Night/Away In A
Manger" and "Merry Christmas, Here's to
Many More." I find that the mix of humor and
sentiment showed on this album shows Reliant K at
their most entertaining and mature at the same time.
"Let It Snow, Baby...Let It Reindeer" has
everything one would expect from a Reliant K album.
Tongue in cheek humor, oozing Beach Boys style harmonies,
tearing guitars and introspective moments. Reliant
K continues to prove they are more than a passing
trend. After hearing "Let It Snow..." I'm
ready for the next Reliant K release, and this time
I'm begging for more.
Key Tracks: "Merry Christmas, Here's to Many
More", "I Hate Christmas Parties",
"Sleigh Ride"
