I currently have a stack of new music to review,
but currently my progress seems to be halted, due
to the fact that I cannot get enough of The Wedding’s
sophomore release, Polarity. The southern quintet
has released a well crafted musical and lyrical journey
to a place where life is more than you ever expected.
The debut self titled release by The Wedding was
teaming with potential. There were lyrical ideas waiting
to bloom and they were coupled with ridiculously catchy
pop punk riffs that you will be humming for the next
week. However, the album lacked an overall cohesiveness
and each track seemed like it was isolated from the
rest.
Polarity changed all of that. The guys took the potential
and turned it into a reality by blending maturity,
passion, and skill. Each song shines in its own right,
and each track belongs. As I listened to the album
I was pleased with the use of several diverse instruments
such as the bagpipes and the trumpet just to name
a couple. This album is sure to be in my player for
a while.
Key tracks: Say Your Prayers, Staring At The Light,
Misery Loves Company
