Raucous, energetic, and in your face, all of the
above can be used to describe the vibe of Queen City
Underground, the debut release from the Dirty South
Revolutionaries. The quartet has unleashed thirty-one
minutes and eighteen seconds of completely untamed
musical anarchy on its listeners.
Overall I was not very impressed by this album. The
energy was compromised by an overall lack of maturity.
The louder and faster they play the less quality comes
through the track. The vocals were very aggressive
and well done, however DSR seemed to have very little
to say other than four letter words and statements
full of raging high school age comments on the world
as a whole, the government, and anyone who disagrees
with the writer.
The fundamental elements of good hardcore infused
punk rock are evident in Queen City Underground. There
are aggressive vocals, blaring guitars, and supersonic
beats. However for me the record falls flat when the
band started to focus more on drugs, lyrics that could
make a sailor blush, and telling the world to eff
off.
