Forever in Terror
Restless in the Tides

Forever in Terror could be the most important thing in extreme metal. These kids are around the ripe old age of 18 years old and they display a sound and talent that is definitely beyond their years. Metal is back and there are bands all over that have eschewed the days of hardcore to instead headbang and solo their hearts out. Forever in Terror are definitely members of that crowd. Drawing on elements of black metal, thrash and modern metalcore these kids are scene to the max.

Opening with the pummeling “Destroy Us” Restless in the Tides takes off and doesn’t let you back to the grown for almost an hour. Lifting you off your feet with punch after punch and leaving you broken bloodied and bruised (much like the character on their back of their album art). These songs are full of blast beats, amazing guitar solos and terrifying vocals. The talent displayed on this album is astounding as each song features some amazing playing. These guys have opened for bands like As I Lay Dying, Unearth, Cannibal Corpse and Chimaira and their sound definitely fits in with that crowd. It’s amazing how the scene has come full circle there is rarely a whiff of the hardcore influence that once dominated the loud music scene, but when Forever in Terror does decide to break things down, they do a fine job of it. The closing title track is a nearly 8 minute long epic that lets you down from the ride you have been on closing with a nice orchestral arrangement that perfectly takes you back to reality.

Metal is back and Forever In Terror is setting themselves up to have a nice long career as the new flag bearers of the genre. I’d be intrigued to see if these guys can pull this off live, and would probably bet against it, but if you want an awesome recording do yourself a favor and pick up Forever in Terror’s debut full length.
