Good old hardcore sometimes can be hard to come
by. Especially when you have those fans out there
that won’t listen to anything else besides bands
like Sick Of It All, Madball, and Agnostic Front.
But this time around, a group by the name of “The
Warriors” brought back the good ole days with
their third studio release and debut for Victory Records
titled “Genuine Sense Of Outrage” and
after touring constantly for about seven years, the
band has something new to up the ante.
The entire album is true to its name because it’s
chock full of outrage. Opening with the track “The
Ruthless Sweep”, you really get in tune with
the album quickly. Each track has something unique
like on the song “Price Of Punishment”
the number one hell raiser from England makes an appearance.
If you guessed Lemmy Kilmister you’re right
on the money. Also Sick Of It All’s Lou Koller
and Andrew Neufeld of Comeback Kid make appearances
to keep the chaos moving.
Tradition really comes into play as well. Each song
has an awesome breakdown along with a few thrash elements.
The band also incorporates a little bit of hip-hop.
If you’re sighing about this, relax!! It’s
not rap. It’s an incorporation more like Rage
Against The Machine and if you’re a fan of them
then you know some of their songs were heavy. The
style is fused with all the traditional elements in
a “hardcore” way that it doesn’t
alter the genre.
Overall, “Genuine Sense Of Outrage”
has a lot to offer to new fans of hardcore and the
“old school” ones as well. Each song is
great and throws something new at you each time. If
you’re a major fan of Sick Of It All then this
album should really appeal to you. With appearances
by Lou Koller from Sick Of It All and Lemmy of Motorhead
spicing up the mix, you can enjoy tradition along
with something new because “Genuine Sense Of
Outrage” is an ass kicker!
Key Tracks: The Ruthless Sweep, Life Grows Cold,
The Stone Grinds, Price Of Punishment, Genuine Sense
Of Outrage, Destroying Cenodoxus, and Mankind Screams.
