Y & T, now that’s a name I haven’t heard in years. It’s funny that I have lost track of these guys since I was a huge fan back in the 80’s so it is so nice to see these guys are still rockin’ as hard as they were back in the day. The thing that has always appealed to me about Y & T is that they have always been a no frills rock band. They have always stayed true to their roots and never really bowed to the glam scene of the late eighties and I respect them for this.

Live: One Hot Night is the new double live DVD and it captures Y & T at its best. With its current lineup featuring founders Dave Meniketti, Phil Kennemore and recent additions of John Nymann (guitar) and Mike Vanderhule (drums) Y & T are at the top of their musical game. This two disc set features a live show recorded on October 8, 2006 in Zoetermeer, Holland and is chock full of classic Y & T songs like “Mean Streak”, “Summertime Girls”, “Forever”, “Rock & Roll’s Gonna Save The World” plus fifteen additional songs from their spectacular discography. As a Y & T fan I enjoyed this DVD immensely but what I really enjoyed was Disc two with backstage footage, a meet and greet, sound check and outtakes. This footage showed that these guys are true genuine men who love music and love to entertain the fans and you don’t see this very often today. Another addition to the second disc was three songs from Bang Your Head Festival 2006 in Germany.

Overall this is a solid DVD release with no bells and whistles… just good ole hard rock played by a band who never got the proper credit they deserve. I would recommend this DVD to anyone who is a fan of the band, but probably won’t garner any new fans either. Let’s just hope we can get some new music from these guys sometime soon… C’mon Dave you know you want to.
